Explained in an understandable way thanks to 3D animation
ATLANTA Antriebssysteme GmbH develops and produces drive systems such as gearboxes, gears and racks. For a mobile application and a service app, an own app development was operated to make the selection of the right racks and gears conceivably effortless for the own customers. And to explain the functions on the mobile phone, cell phone or tablet as simply as possible, explanatory videos were produced by the Animations-Maschine.

Atlanta's service app is a web-based tool that requires no installation and can be used with almost any device. Technical product data of all racks as well as the request for an identical replacement rack can be retrieved with the app. To do this, a QR code scanner scans the code on the rack and the app calls up all the information from the database. Our customer decided to have the explanatory video developed as a 3D animation. This gives it an authentic and high-quality look. Design elements of the company's corporate identity were integrated into the production of the explainer video so that the animation fits perfectly into the website and YouTube channel.

From illustrated storyboard to finished explainer video
At the beginning of the video creation there is an agreement with the customer. What should be shown? Which steps are important? What should be explained in detail? All these questions are included in an initial rough description of the process. Based on this, an illustrated storyboard is then created. In this storyboard, all the important points are already depicted in the same way as they will be in the subsequent animation in the explainer video. You as the customer can therefore see in advance what the later video will look like and, if necessary, make corrections.
Production process of the explainer video
To explain the main functions of the app in the video, screenshots of the most important menu items were taken from the mobile app or the website. Then edited to put it in the right format. The main actor in the animation video is a 3D model of a cell phone, which gets the right display content dynamically integrated in the animation program. If the display is scrolled, the screenshot of the display must also interact accordingly. Once everything is set up and linked correctly, the rendering button is pressed and the 3D explainer video is ready!

With the Motor-Match function, customers receive all information about the individual components that are required for a suitable motor connection of an ATLANTA servo gearbox. Either select the model from a database or enter the corresponding motor parameters manually and all the information is available. In addition to the pure function of the mobile application, the correct adjustment of the coupling to the motor is also explained in a separate 3D animation sequence. Since this explainer video was the second of its kind, some animation sequences from the previously created video could be easily adopted and reused with slight adjustments.

3D animated fingers select the menu items
Animated fingers or hands are always a bit more complex to make them look less plastic. Each joint has to be animated individually. But the effort can be worth it. For example, the fingers in the explainer videos show exactly what needs to be selected or pressed. Motion sequences were created once and could be adapted and used again and again. Text inputs, on the other hand, were indicated in a simplified way, since otherwise the video would only be unnecessarily drawn out. Important passages can thus be supported and less important cleverly shortened.

US version - explanatory video in other languages
"Must have!" After the explainer videos for Germany were finished and the colleagues from America saw the animations, the enthusiasm was great. Shortly after, the US version was created. To do this, all the screenshots that were created from the German app version were created again from the American app and replaced in the animation program. Then the rendering was restarted and the modified language version was ready. That's it. So easy!
